Memories
Memories From First Climb
My new member year 2006-2007 was different then other new members in my day. We had received a lot of snow in December and there was concern for avalanches on Barr trail above tree line and the club wanted to take the road to the top. I was dishearten about this because I wanted to lead the group on the normal route. Taking the road seemed too easy and less eventful with no stop at Barr camp for the night. I understood the concern and enjoyed the hike up the road. The next week after our climb there was an avalanche that occurred above Glen Cove and it buried a section of the road where we had hiked.

Joseph Garcia climbed as a guest with the club that year and later he would become the lieutenant governor of Colorado.
